Get Ready for Race Season

We are anxiously awaiting for race season to begin. In a few short weeks we will have Rookie School. If you are new don’t forget to register!

If you did not make the membership meeting and would like to get your membership papers in you can send them to Darla Frederick at 560 Middle Road, Caledonia, NY 14423. By getting your forms in this will allow us to get a head start and get you entered in the scoring system. It also allows us to get an idea of class sizes because we have some wondering where to run. You can download these forms under the Information tab, Forms.

Transponders are mandatory for everyone and are available for $5 if you do not have your own. If you do not have one and would like your own you can go to MyLaps and grab one that includes a one year subscription. For those of you who have transponders already please make sure you check when your subscription expires so you can get it renewed!

New This Season!

Did you miss the Membership Meeting? Let’s fill you in on what’s new for the upcoming season.

  • 2019 Schedule & Main Events
    • No Fall Series!  We are running April thru October with 22 club race weekends and taking the best 15.  One of those weekends will be double points actually giving you 23 scoring opportunities!  This is to give racers the opportunity to stay competitive without having to worry about missing out on getting enough races in.  It gives you time to travel for the New York Karting Championship, take vacations, and it also should give us enough weekends to not worry about making up rain dates.
    • Rookie School – Saturday April 13.  If you are new to karting you must attend Rookie School and have three practices in before you can participate in race day.  April 14 will be open practice along with April 27th.  Bring your kart and safety equipment!                                            Register for Rookie School here!
    • Oval Racing begins April 27th and Road Course begins April 28th!
    • 2nd Annual Karting and Mini Bike Antique and Historic Event will take place May 30 – June 1.  (will post flyer with more info later)
    • New York Karting Championship will have 6 races this year!  We will be hosting Race #1 on June 9th and Race #4 on August 4th.  For more information on the series, classes, rules, track info, etc… go to
    • This year is the 60th Anniversary of the track! This event will be held on SATURDAY, JUNE 22.  It is also our double point weekend!!  We are hoping to make this date a huge event with racing (oval, sprint, and vintage), a chicken BBQ by Papa Ray’s, basket raffles, and mini car show!  We also have a live band in the works if enough people are interested in sticking around after racing with good food and good people!  If you are interested in donating anything for the raffles you can contact me at  Also keep an eye out because we will have a sign-up sheet to reserve your ticket for the BBQ.
    • Vintage Karting Association will host their 10th Annual Karting Reunion on July 25-27.  (will post flyer with more info later)
    • Enduro Day with the main event being $1000 to win Sr. LO206 50 lap race!  This event will be held Saturday August 10th.  And we must meet a 20 driver requirement for prize money, payouts 1st – 5th.  Enduro Day Information and Pre-Registration Click Here.
  • Road Course/Pit Pass Fee Change: Member Driver Fee $40, Member Pit Pass $10, Non-Member Pit Pass $15.
  • Driver/Non-Drivers will receive different color wristbands at registration.
  • Sr. LO206 will offer Medium, Heavy, and Masters classes.
  • KA-100 Junior & Senior classes added, will run with TaGs.
  • Sr. Animal Masters class age will be 50+, before it was 35+.
  • Safety/Tech – you will receive an NKA safety tech sheet at registration.  You must go over your kart and fill the sheet out before going on the track.  When you are done filling it out present the sheet and your kart to our Safety Director so your kart may be marked to go out on the track.  Also new this year is you must have a brake tether cable.
  • Race Monitor – we are going to experiment with Race Monitor this year and see if we can get it going.  It will be another option besides the Speedhive Live Timing we have now.  You can download the Race Monitor app and follow us on race day!
  • Carry In/Carry Out – GVKC has always asked to take your tires with you when you leave.  We are unable to throw away tires and the fuel cans that are left behind.  Please keep our facility looking good.
  • The new corner that was added last year will be worked on this year, along with a few other spots that need to be redone.  Oval drivers should be able to use it as well with a smoother transition.
  • Promotional Shows: Street Machines Indoor show at the Greece Ridge Mall, May 3-5.  There will also be a cruise-in outside the mall May 4th.  We are looking for help on this show whether it be inside or outside at the mall.  If you plan on racing Sunday they will let you take your kart Saturday night.  Email if you can volunteer promoting GVKC.  Also, Street Machines has an Outdoor Show June 9th at Badgerow Park in Greece.
  • Track Talk Radio 1420 Wack AM.  We will post when GVKC will be on the radio!
  • Gold Membership does not include weekends for practice or racing.
  • Transponders are mandatory, if you do not have one you can rent one for $5.

We hope to see you at the track this year!  If you have any questions just give us an email.  Also keep an eye out for work days.  We will need your help getting the facilities race ready!  We are also looking for more drivers in the Kid Kart class and TaG class!!!
