RESCHEDULED: 1st Annual GVKC Memorial Money Race

**RESCHEDULED: Due to rain, our Memorial Race events from August 21st are rescheduled to take place during our next money race, taking place on September 18th. See you there!** Join us for a special day of racing, including a money race for senior two-cycle drivers, to honor club members and loved ones who are no longer with us. Come out and dedicate your race day to the memory of a family member or friend…all drivers and spectators are welcome, and there’s something for everyone! Donations and drink/snack purchases throughout the day will benefit the Alan Decker Memorial Scholarship Fund, supporting individuals with financial need and a passion for karting. By covering race entry fees and other essential expenses, the fund helps mini-grant recipients to continue doing what they love, while benefitting our club and the larger sport of karting. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS Sunday, September 18, 2016 MAKE A MEMORIAL PARADE LAP Dedicate a parade lap to a loved one to help us kick off our heats. Tell us who you are racing for, and their name will be announced as you enter the track. Suggested donation of $5. LAUNCH A SKY LANTERN Join us on the track at intermission to send up a sky lantern as an expression of love and remembrance. Bring a family member or friend to help you launch the lantern (pit passes are not needed for this portion of the event). Suggested donation of $20. MONEY RACE FOR SENIOR TWO-CYCLE CLASSES Eligible classes are: Sr Yamaha Can – Weight, 325 lbs Sr Yamaha Pipe – Weight, 380 lbs Sr TaG – Weight, 375 lbs for X30 / 365 lbs for Leopard The larger the turnout, the larger the payout! Nominate candidates for our 2017 GVKC Board

It’s that time again! Please tell us who you would like to see represent the Genesee Valley Kart Club as a 2017 board member. Candidates can be nominated anonymously, either by paper form or online. Hard copy forms are available at the track; they can also be printed and mailed to the address on the form. Download a hard copy form. Nominate candidates online. Save the date for these special events: 1st Annual Ricky Hoyt Memorial Auto Show (July 24, 2016): BMW/import show at Hickory Park in Bergen, NY in memory of WNYKC member Ricky Hoyt. $5 entry fee with proceeds benefitting Donate Life. First 100 cars into the show get a free Memorial Decal; 50-50 drawings. 7th Annual Vintage Karting Reunion (July 28-30, 2016): Come and see the roots of modern karting in action! Vintage karts manufactured between 1956 and 1985 are invited to join us for a kart show, vintage workshops, track time and demonstration races and a catered picnic. 1st Annual GVKC Memorial Money Race (August 21, 2016): Race in honor of a family member or someone special. Holiday Schedule: Club Racing & Open Practice

Looking for a way to kick off your Memorial Day weekend? Join us for an open practice session on Saturday, May 28th. Registration opens at 9 am and practice runs from 10 am to 4 pm. Please note, there will be NO club racing on Memorial Day weekend. The track will be closed on Sunday, May 29th (a change to the original 2016 schedule). There will also be no club racing or open practice on the following weekend, June 4-5, as GVKC hosts the AKRA’s Northern Tour opener. We invite you to join us to watch the action – grandstand admission is free and concessions are available onsite. AKRA Northern Tour Opener Schedule & Info

  GVKC is honored to host the first stop of the American Kart Racing Association’s inaugural Northern Tour on June 3-5, 2016. Schedule: Thursday (pit parking only): Parking open from 8 am to 5 pm. Friday (practice): Parking open from 8 am to 5 pm. Practice runs from 11 am to 5:30 and will be split into four classes, run in 10-minute sessions. Saturday (race day): Parking open from 8 am to 5 pm. Practice begins at 10 am sharp, followed by a qualifier, heat and feature. Sunday (race day): Practice begins at 10 am sharp, followed by a qualifier, heat and feature. Top-five plaques will be awarded for each day of competition. View the full schedule here. Parking & Lodging: Entrants, please note that parking fees are payable by CASH OR CHECK ONLY upon arrival. Pit spots have been reserved on a first-come basis, and based on trailer size. For more info on parking, call Kevin Orlop at (585) 363-3795.
