Open Positions for 2016 Race Season

Racing is right around the corner…and GVKC is sending out a last call for a few key positions. Interested in exploring the possibilities? We invite you to attend our annual membership meeting on Sunday, March 20th to talk with our board about these openings.

HEAD FLAGGER: Do you have racing and flagging experience? The Genesee Valley Kart Club is in search of head flaggers for Sunday sprint course racing, to be compensated at a per diem of $75 per day (hours: noon to 5 pm). Head flaggers are needed from mid-April through the end of October. Duties include:

  • Start/Finish flagging throughout race day (two heats/one final for each class); ensure fair starts
  • Support Race Director/Board with scoring and driver infraction rulings
  • See GVKC rulebook for full description of duties

RACE DIRECTOR: GVKC is interviewing experienced candidates for Race Director. Coverage is needed for Sunday sprint course racing, mid-April through early September, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. Per diem pay based on experience; please contact the GVKC board for more info. Duties include:

  • Coordinate race days and ensure coverage for essential positions (scoring, flagging)
  • Interpret and enforce GVKC and World Karting Association rules to ensure fair & safe racing
  • Support pre-race safety tech inspections
  • Attend drivers’ meetings; educate members on racing rules
  • Oversee races and resolve conflicts
  • Call for/oversee post-race tech as needed; address all protests

SATURDAY EMT: Do you have experience as an EMT/paramedic, nurse or first responder? GVKC is in need of a qualified medical attendant to be onsite for Saturday practice days from 10 am to 4 pm, mid-April through the end of October. Attendant and accompanying driver would receive in-kind pit passes and practices; please contact the GVKC board to discuss further.
