AKRA Northern Tour Round 1 - Hosted by GVKC, Avon NY • June 3-5, 2016

GVKC is honored to host the first stop of the American Kart Racing Association’s inaugural Northern Tour on June 3-5, 2016.

Schedule:

Thursday (pit parking only):

  • Parking open from 8 am to 5 pm.

Friday (practice):

  • Parking open from 8 am to 5 pm.
  • Practice runs from 11 am to 5:30 and will be split into four classes, run in 10-minute sessions.

Saturday (race day):

  • Parking open from 8 am to 5 pm.
  • Practice begins at 10 am sharp, followed by a qualifier, heat and feature.

Sunday (race day):

  • Practice begins at 10 am sharp, followed by a qualifier, heat and feature.

Top-five plaques will be awarded for each day of competition. View the full schedule here.

Parking & Lodging:

  • Entrants, please note that parking fees are payable by CASH OR CHECK ONLY upon arrival. Pit spots have been reserved on a first-come basis, and based on trailer size. For more info on parking, call Kevin Orlop at (585) 363-3795.
  • Free parking will be available for spectators.

Class Specs:

  • Tire/wheel rules apply for this event. Please see class specs for more info. Vega tires (both slicks and rains) will be available for sale at the track.
  • 4-cycle classes: Spec gas is 87 octane and must be purchased from Pump #1 at Quicklee’s at 1665 Lakeville Road (East Avon-Lima Road), Avon, NY 14414. (Look for the pump with a GVKC sticker on it.)

Drivers: we need your info for our 2016 program! If you have not yet submitted your bio information, please use the form below.

Rainout: May 1, 2016

Based on current wet conditions and forecast, the track will not be dry by 12:30 pm. Racing is canceled for today.

Remember to sign up through GVKC’s RainedOut account to get text or email alerts on days when rain clouds may be on the horizon.

Pre-season work days: help us get ready for racing

Members, friends and fans: we need your help to get the track ready for Rookie School and to host the first stop of the inaugural AKRA Sprint Cup Series Northern Tour. Please stop by and lend a hand at one or more of these scheduled work days. Just a few hours of your time can make a big difference!

Saturday, April 2nd: 11 am – ’til

Saturday, April 9th: 11 am – ’til

Sunday, April 10th: 11 am – ’til

Please note: with cold weather due in, the scheduled work day on April 9th is canceled. 

Wear work clothes and bring your own beverages. (We’ll be ordering pizza for all volunteers.) Tasks to be completed include:

  • Turning on water system
  • Placement of blue bags
  • Placement of safety barriers
  • Clean and prepare bathrooms
  • Fixing rumble strips as needed
  • Inspect/fix bleachers and install weed mat
  • Repaint grid
  • Clean up grounds (sticks, rubber, rocks, etc)
  • Mowing/weedwacking
  • Pressure wash garbage barrels and put bags in them
  • Test PA system and possibly extend farther down spectator/pit areas
  • Prep scale house
  • Repair/place signs
  • Replace counter at registration booth
