Its the last race weekend of the summer series! This season has gone way too fast. If you haven’t checked the points lately, here are some classes to watch:
Its a close race with only a 200 point spread between Cole Hicks (leading), Nick Fauci, Evan Bovee, and Joshua Stark…
A little more than 100 points seperates Ed Van Shaick (leading), and Angie Miller….This ones gonna be close.
Shawn Callahan has a comfortable lead in this class, but there is a battle for second place. Alex Salisbury, Will Salisbury, Derek Six, and Greg Gleisner are all close contenders.
The windows are still on track to be delivered on Friday 9/6/13. Installation is still scheduled for Saturday 9/7/13. Because of the size of the two front windows, we are looking for a few people to help this Saturday so that we can safely remove the old windows and install the new ones without incident. The contractor that we have hired only employs two people and for the safety of everyone we need probably two or three more to assist them.
The work will commence between 8 and 8:30 am so please join us for this long over due task of replacing these windows. I don’t think you will need to bring any tools, we are just in need of some labor.
Another long over due task that I have been working on is going to take place on Monday 9/9/13. The edging of our entire track is being done by Boon & Sons on Monday. Once that is complete, we hope to have painting of lines, rumble strips and our grid restriped. This is a coordinated effort by Al G. and myself. It would have been nice to have this work done much earlier in the season but it has been a very busy summer for all of us.
I know there is many long over due projects but together we can get a few of the more serious ones completed before the weather changes. We also have several other updates to the track that we are currently investigating for next year. This is all in an effort to make our facility better for our members.
See ya Saturday
I received a call from our window contractor Bob Farnan, yesterday and he will be receiving all of our new windows for the tower on Friday September 6. It is his plan to install the two front windows first because they will be the most difficult to install as well as time consuming. He is also planning to install these two on Saturday September 7,2013. Therefore, the likelihood that he will be complete by the afternoon for open practice will NOT happen.
We originally were planning to have Microd racing on that Saturday and they cancelled out so I hope this won’t be an inconvenience to any of our members to NOT have any open practice for that Saturday. I think the oval racing can still happen in the morning and those people will have to access the oval by maybe either turning left immediately at the grid gate. Then actually going backward through the hairpin and over to the oval or going the wrong way on the exit ramp to get to the oval. Either way I don’t think that this should be a problem for them.
If anyone has any issue with this I strongly urge you to contact me so that we can discuss it.
I would like to remind everyone the we would like to receive your nomination ballot for the 2014 board of directors ASAP. Please scan them and email them to either Andrea or Terry. You may also mail the to Andrea but Please do so ASAP. It is your club!!!!
Fellow GVKC clubmembers,
As of today, Andrea has informed me that she has only received a handful of nomination forms (literally). Would you or someone you know be a good fit for any of the positions and make our club stronger? All of our board members volunteer their time and effort to make our race days run smooth, and this year we have a record number of new members that may be good candidates. I would like to encourage all of you to please turn your nomination forms this weekend. If you are lazy like I was, you can scan and email them to Andrea or myself, or even stop by the track and drop them off tomorrow (Saturday) since we will be running open practice.
The track was originally closed this weekend. There was enough interest in a practice, and the Salsbury family has agreed to open the track and host on Saturday.
